Memory Palace:  A Journey of Nostalgia

The creative coding project takes inspiration from the themes of time, memory, and nostalgia, exploring their interconnectedness through the dissection of an everyday object: a watch.
Brief:
Obliterate an everyday object into
6 conceptual stages of being and discovery, and visualise it using HTML, CSS, and JavascriptI explored watches as a symbol of constancy amidst the passage of time and consequent changes, tackling themes of growing up and grieving the loss of one’s childhood. Inspired by Dali’s Persistence of Memory, this experimental site visualises the impermanence and fluidity of time, where only memories endure in its incomprehensible nature.
 Using the notion of a memory palace, I designed the website as a visual and interactive representation of memories, with different rooms depicting nostalgic themes such as a childhood bedroom, a family dinner table, an old photo album, or a forgotten toy.
